i was hanging out with roomie last night when Erra Fazira's SlimWorld ads attracted us.. She was saying that she had lost about 20kgs since her childbirth.. Sounds impressive, huh? But then, come to think about it, maybe she only lost the baby weight, right? huhu
not sure about those, i grabbed the book... ok, this is some of the things that i found out..
- Generally, weight gain recommendations are based on your prepregnancy BMI. If your BMI is average (18.5 - 26) you'll probably be advised to gain between 25 - 35 pounds (11 - 15kgs). If you are overweight (BMI 26 to 29) your gain should only be between 15 -20 pounds (6 - 9kgs). Superskinny mom *ENVY~~* (BMI less than 18.5) will have to gain more, which is around 28 - 40 pounds (12 - 18kgs)
- The weight gain should gappen gradually. No, its not spreading the 30 pounds evenly over the 40 weeks. Just take the weight gain as slow and as healthy as possible. Gaining weight by eating healthily is better than gaining by stuffing yourself with junk foods.
- If it takes you nine months to that weight, it will take you nine months to lose it. Take it slow, it wont go away straight after the birthing process, just like that.
Breakdown of weight gain:
Baby - 3.5kg
Placenta - 0.6kg
Amniotic Fluid - 0.9kg
Uterine enlargement - 0.9kg
Maternal Breast Tissue - 0.9kg
Maternal Blood Volume - 1.8kg
Fluids in maternal tissue - 1.8kg
Maternal Fat storage - 3.1kg
Total Average: 13.5kgs
